AMP Fitness will hold its annual Holiday Food Drive during the month of November to make a difference in the lives of Northeast Ohio’s most vulnerable children and families.
This year, the donations will be in support of the Heights Emergency Food Center, which services families in Cleveland Heights, University Heights, South Euclid and Lyndhurst.
The center opened in 1981 as a service to less than 10 families. But now, with an estimated 1 in 6 Americans struggling with hunger, the center provides a three-day supply of food each month to nearly 600 families.
While any non-perishable food items are welcome, the center is most in need of cereal (hot or cold), pasta, rice, dried beans, canned vegetables, peanut butter, paper products and diapers.
“I believe in order to make your community succeed, you need to support each other, and this is one way that we can do that.” – Larry Tedor, Owner, AMP Fitness
In addition to supporting those most in need during the holiday season, donors to the food drive will have the opportunity to win prizes.
For every donation of five food items or $5, donors will be entered into a raffle, with a grand prize of two tickets and a meet-and-greet with pianist Jim Brickman at his Comfort & Joy holiday concert on Dec. 19 at the Connor Palace Theater in Cleveland (a $300 value). Other prizes include gift cards from local merchants.
The drawing will be held on Nov. 21 at AMP Fitness. Winners will be notified by phone.
For every donation of 10 food items or $10, donors will receive a free 30-minute training session with one of AMP’s personal coaches. While there is no limit to how many training sessions donors can receive, the free sessions must be used by Dec. 19 and cannot be combined with any other offers.
“I am always thinking of ways to introduce more people to AMP Fitness and show them that we are a place that sincerely cares about them, their fitness goals and the community,” said AMP Fitness owner Larry Tedor. “Having a food drive provides the community with the opportunity to visit AMP Fitness and learn how we can help them on a larger scale. I believe in order to make your community succeed, you need to support each other, and this is one way that we can do that.”
Non-perishable food and cash donations will be accepted at AMP Fitness, located at 23436 Commerce Park in Beachwood, Mondays through Fridays from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturdays from 7 a.m. to noon.
