Hey guys, Kim here, we have a lot of catching up to do!
I have been performing my internship at AMP Fitness now for several weeks, and words do not do justice for how grateful I am to Larry Tedor and Marie Mesher for all they have taught me. I am truly blessed to have access to their level of knowledge and experience in the world of personal training.
I have been asking myself quite a bit “what is the most enjoyable aspect of this internship?” Truthfully, I can’t find just one answer to that question. Everything I do during the day, from watching the trainers in action, meeting new clients, watching existing clients achieve new goals and, heck, even cleaning the gym – I love it all!
There are so many aspects of the business to learn and, I have to be honest, my head is spinning just a little! The most difficult thing for me right now is finding the right exercises to pair together to help my clients get the maximum results. I find the number of exercises available to be a bit overwhelming and very difficult to choose.
So, are you guys ready for the most exciting part of this update?
I trained my first client! Yep, all by myself. I wrote a 30-minute workout and took the client through it with no assistance at all! My client was Cindy Jackson, a very good friend of mine, my prior boss, and a longtime client of Larry’s. What a trooper she was! The jury’s still out on who’s counting was actually on target, but all in all I couldn’t have asked for a better experience.
I have a few things to work on, but I’m pretty confident that I will continue to become more comfortable and make the necessary changes fairly quickly. While on the exterior I seem cool as a cucumber, on the inside is a whole different story! I think I changed the workout at least eight different times prior to working with Cindy, but we won’t mention that part to Larry! Cindy enjoyed the workout enough to ask for another next week, so I guess I better get started with that exercise selection!
Talk to you again soon!
Kim
