Thanks to the generosity of its clients, AMP Fitness raised $2,110 and more than 500 food items during a holiday food drive to benefit Beech Brook.
The Beachwood-based fitness center sponsored a Lose Big & Give Big food drive in December to support the foster care program at Beech Brook, a Pepper Pike-based behavioral health agency serving approximately 20,000 children and families in Northeast Ohio.
“We are truly amazed by the enthusiasm and generosity of the AMP clients who donated so many food items and gifts of cash to help our foster families over the holidays!” said Nancy Kortemeyer, assistant vice president of marketing public relations at Beech Brook. “We feel so fortunate that AMP Fitness owners Larry and Gin Tedor chose to support Beech Brook in this way, not only by bringing in donations, but in raising visibility for the needs of children in the foster care system.”
In addition to the food drive, AMP Fitness clients were able to participate in a calorie challenge to lose 10,000 calories during the month of December, typically a time of the year when it is easy to put on weight. Participants burned 394,797 calories during the challenge, which is the equivalent of not gaining 113 pounds.
“I feel very blessed to have wonderful clients like that are willing to open up their hearts to children and families in need,” said Larry Tedor. “My family and I had the chance to attend Beech Brook’s annual holiday dinner party to deliver the donations, and my wife and I spoke with quite a few people who wanted us to pass on their gratitude and thanks. They were very surprised at the generosity and I want to thank everyone for Giving Big this holiday! Together, we truly did make a difference in a child’s life.”
